Clinical insourcing

What Is clinical insourcing

Clinical insourcing is a collaborative delivery model in which an NHS Trust retains full clinical governance while working in partnership with an independent provider to deliver additional elective and outpatient capacity.

Under an insourcing model, care is delivered within the Trust’s own theatres, outpatient departments, and diagnostic facilities. Patients remain NHS patients, activity is delivered under NHS policies and procedures, and existing clinical governance frameworks remain in place.

How Fortify Clinic delivers insourcing

Fortify Clinic provides complete clinical and operational teams to work within NHS environments, integrating seamlessly with Trust systems and workflows. Our teams operate using the Trust’s infrastructure, equipment, and clinical systems, ensuring continuity, safety, and transparency.

This includes the delivery of full clinical pathways, from pre-operative assessment and booking through to procedure, reporting, and follow-up, depending on the service required.

By working within existing estates and infrastructure, Fortify Clinic helps NHS organisations unlock unused or underutilised capacity without introducing structural complexity.

Retaining governance and operational control

A key principle of clinical insourcing is that the NHS Trust retains full clinical governance and oversight at all times. Fortify Clinic operates in partnership with Trust clinical leaders, management teams, and governance structures to ensure services are delivered safely and in line with local and national standards.

This approach avoids the risks often associated with outsourcing, where care is delivered outside the Trust estate or under separate governance arrangements.
